I honestly think Zendaya is where his work is best, but with Lauren Sanchez I wonder how much input or pushback she gave him because that's where I think his collaborating with her style falls flat. Law just feels like an extreme example of what success looks like now, because everything is material, everything is branding, everything is leveraged. It’s depressing!! I hope people read this and realize how unhealthy the version of success we’ve all been sold actually is.
Law Roach's greatest project is Zendaya. I think she can stand without him but [despite his talent] I'm not sure he stands without her? That is also of his own doing. He is open about his machinations. I wish I had a pinch of the self confidence and devil may care attitude. He has a drive to succeed [on his own as an image architect (I thought it was a silly chosen name and now I believe he was prescient [or hyperaware])] and I don't know that many people would handwave a small brand sitting on a showstopper for years. I admire the gall. I would relish the opportunity to shed my toxic compulsions to people please and accommodate at all costs and be selfish. It's critical to his success. He isn't interested in being a stylist. He wants to be Law Roach the man, the myth and the miracle.
For all the merits I find with his laissez-faire attitude it can frequently fall flat. I was not impressed w/the express jet dress. I believe he sacrified tailoring for spectacle. People lost their heads about it and didn't seem too concerned with something I thought was important.
When I saw Zendaya as a bird....person I was awestruck. She looked even more beautiful after my dislike of another breastplate (and it didn't fit). This is why I love them together.
